Celebrating 13 Years of Giving

In a world where education remains an elusive dream for many girls and women, the Circle of Sisterhood has become a beacon of hope that has been shining brightly for the past thirteen years thanks to campus and community members that we call our Circle. The Circle of Sisterhood’s Day of Giving, celebrating our 13th anniversary, stands as a testament to the power of community, compassion, and collective action. On September 30, 2023, we come together to celebrate not only the journey we’ve undertaken but also the path ahead as we strive to remove barriers that hinder education for girls and women globally.

Over a decade ago, Ginny Carroll embarked on a mission that would help redefine the future for countless girls and women worldwide. The Circle of Sisterhood, born from her vision, set out to dismantle the walls that denied education and potential to those who needed it most. The first hurdle was challenging centuries-old norms, where being female automatically meant a lower priority for education. Often, families with limited resources chose to educate their sons, leaving their daughters to manage household duties. This initial barrier highlighted the urgency of the Circle of Sisterhood’s mission, igniting a movement for change as we believe educating and empowering girls will shape current and future global, economic, and social prosperity.

As the Circle delved deeper into their mission, they learned about the multitude of obstacles obstructing girls’ education. Financial constraints were undoubtedly a significant roadblock, leading to the creation of initiatives that raised funds for essential resources like school supplies, clothing, teachers, classrooms, and transportation. The Circle of Sisterhood team recognized that the journey toward education wasn’t just financial but also deeply personal. Puberty emerged as another challenge, with a lack of access to feminine hygiene products causing girls to miss school during their periods. The organization’s commitment to addressing every aspect of these girls’ lives that kept them from schooling became even stronger, driven by the understanding that education doesn’t exist in isolation.

As we commemorate the 13th Anniversary of the Day of Giving, we invite you to join us in this journey of empowerment and transformation. Every year, the Day of Giving is a community gathering from near and far where all Circle influencers use their voice to help remove barriers and make education a reality for every girl and woman. The impact of your support is immediate and profound, touching lives by providing resources, breaking stigmas, and fostering an environment where education thrives.
