Campus Spotlight – University of North Texas

1This year the Panhellenic Council at the University of North Texas held a variety of events to support the Circle of Sisterhood! Our Vice President of Scholarship and Service worked with the Panhellenic Council and community to raise funds and awareness towards the cause. Our recruitment team worked really hard to share this wonderful opportunity to make a difference with our incoming Greeks during recruitment and orientation. Another participant was our fellow Circle of Sisterhood supporters on campus, Delta Sigma Theta  Sorority Inc., who is a member of the National Pan-Hellenic Council.

During the summer, we were so excited to have Ginny Carroll come to speak at our new Greek Life Center about Circle of Sisterhood and how our community can make a difference. Inspired, we held a “Change for Change” competition during our formal recruitment period in the fall. In less than a week, we were able to raise $2,000 to donate.  The winning chapters received their new member class early and  the winning Rho Gamma groups received their bids earliest.

4 We also created a Circle of Sisterhood Banner was decorated during our Panhellenic Pride week in October. Each chapter was provided with circles. Members wrote encouraging quotes or reasons why they support the Circle of Sisterhood. We had over 100 circles and pledges of support!

The Panhellenic Community is so excited to continue being partners with the Circle of Sisterhood Foundation and have great events planned in the upcoming year, including a movie night where we will invite the community to watch the Half the Sky documentary with us. This philanthropy has brought our Panhellenic Community closer and we hope that it will continue to bring sisters together.

At the University of North Texas, Greek Life stands for four pillars: scholarship, service, sisterhood, and leadership. We chose to support the Circle of Sisterhood because we felt we needed a common cause to rally our community and because it was aligned with all of our values. Our events were targeted to raise both funds and awareness. We recognize how blessed we are to attend UNT and to be a part of Greek Life. We love supporting the Circle of Sisterhood because it directly helps other girls reach their potential.
