News Release: Circle of Sisterhood Foundation Partners with buildOn to Build School in Senegal

 

 

INDIANAPOLIS – (October 29, 2012) – The Circle of Sisterhood, a non-profit grassroots charitable Foundation, today launched an international fundraising campaign to build a school in Senegal. The Circle of Sisterhood Foundation, through the collective wisdom and influence of sorority women, supports entities that work to remove educational barriers for girls and women around the world. The Circle of Sisterhood Foundation is partnering with buildOn to activate their mission on this African initiative. 

 

The Circle of Sisterhood will work within a community of millions of sorority women to raise funds and awareness that will provide children in Senegal access to a quality education. The group’s mission is a result of widespread research that shows educating girls is one of the most effective ways to fight poverty and oppression.

buildOn works to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and low expectations through service and education. buildOn’s Global School Construction Program will facilitate the building of the Circle of Sisterhood Foundation funded school in Senegal’s western Fatick region. Through a school building methodology that focuses on gender equality, buildOn will ensure that at least 50 percent of the students enrolled will be girls.

 

The Circle of Sisterhood Foundation’s fundraising campaign will mobilize collegiate and alumnae sorority women through various engagements on college campuses and in communities nationwide. Through the Circle of Sisterhood all sorority women can work together to give girls in the developing world access to education.
