Grant Profile: Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis
The Circle of Sisterhood is excited to announce another grant partnership: Girls, Inc. of Greater Indianapolis. The mission of Girls, Inc. is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold! Out of the 100,000 girls in greater Indianapolis, one third are worried about being teased and half of sixth thru tenth graders are victims of bullying. Girls, Inc. strives to help young women overcome these statistics to be confident, prepared, and ready to take their place in the world.
By providing hands-on programs that directly address the needs of girls ages 6-18 in Indianapolis, Girls, Inc. strives to inspire girls through three distinct programs, each focusing on an aspect of the mission statement. Strong Healthy Relationships, Smart College and Career Planning Services and Bold Empowered Girls programming intersect to develop strong, smart and bold women.
The Smart College and Career Planning programs aligns closely with Circle of Sisterhood’s mission. Therefore, we are pleased to be awarding a $5,000 grant to Girls, Inc. to develop and execute that aspect of its programming. In these programs, girls are encouraged to set educational and career goals that will help them become financially independent while learning basic money management skills and the importance of higher education. The program also teaches girls about philanthropy and encourages them to develop an interest in technology, math, and science.
We are excited to see our grant dollars at work with Girls, Inc. of Greater Indianapolis!
